National Day 2026: Going Beyond: 61 Years of Excellence

Fairfield’s National Day celebration inspired unity and pride through parades, performances, games and songs about Singapore’s journey.

“Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond” was the theme of Singapore’s 61st National Day, celebrating the Singapore Spirit and our aspiration to keep moving forward while striving to do good for our community. On 7 August 2026, Fairfield commemorated the occasion with vibrant performances and activities reflecting Singapore’s history, culture, and national pride.
The day began with members of the Uniformed Groups marching into the Parade Square in perfect synchrony as the Fairfield Symphonic Band played in the background. The atmosphere was both celebratory and solemn as Fairsians watched the parade unfold. “Baris… Sedia!” the parade commander bellowed, his voice cutting through the silence as the music faded.
The celebration then continued in the hall, where the NCC (Land) Precision Drill Squad performed to Not Alone, the 2024 National Day Parade theme song. Their sharp, synchronised movements and skilful handling of their rifles left the audience in awe. Following this, English Drama students and Uniformed Group leaders reenacted significant moments from Singapore’s history, from the racial riots of its early years to the peace and harmony enjoyed today. The performance reminded Fairsians of the challenges faced by earlier generations and the importance of safeguarding Singapore’s unity.
The mood soon shifted from reflection to excitement as student leaders led trivia games celebrating Singaporean culture. Students identified zoomed-in photographs of familiar local dishes, decoded landmarks represented by emojis, and deciphered the English meanings of Singlish expressions. Hands shot into the air as Fairsians eagerly competed to answer each question, filling the hall with excited chatter and laughter.
The celebration reached its musical high with the teachers’ band, who performed three beloved National Day songs: Count on Me, Singapore, Here We Are, and Home. As Here We Are began, a few Upper Secondary students rose and waved their hands to the music. Before long, others joined them, singing their hearts out as the hall became one united chorus. The familiar strains of Home then brought the performance to a fitting close.
As the festivities drew to an end, students gathered around the school to take photographs with their friends, capturing precious memories of the occasion. Fairsians left not only with greater appreciation for Singapore’s journey, but also with a renewed sense of belonging and responsibility towards its future. Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond was more than a theme; it was a call for every Fairsian to keep moving forward and play their part in building a better Singapore.
