Chosen as the theme for Orientation 2026, “Odyssey: Navigating the Unknown” symbolised a meaningful journey of discovery, growth, and new beginnings. As Fairfield’s Secondary One cohort stepped into the school hall for the very first time, they were reminded that every experience, whether success or setback, plays a role in shaping who they become. Over three exciting days, students were encouraged to embrace new challenges with courage and begin their journey of exploration within the Fairfield community.
Although there was some initial hesitation, the Secondary Ones soon found their footing through lively icebreakers organised by the student leaders. Laughter quickly replaced nervousness as friendships began to form. One of the key highlights was the Heritage and Induction Race, designed to familiarise students with Fairfield’s rich history and traditions. Through engaging stations and games centred on Fairfield-related questions, the Secondary One students learned more about their school while strengthening camaraderie within their orientation groups.
The following two days unfolded with an energetic mix of wet and dry games that fostered teamwork and class spirit. Activities such as Capture the Flag, Minefield, and Sensory Seekers challenged students’ collaboration and communication skills, while wet games like Splashaton and Trivia Slide added an extra splash of excitement. The atmosphere grew increasingly vibrant as students cheered one another on, with laughter and enthusiasm filling the school grounds.
Beyond the physical activities, students also participated in the Peer Support and Anti-Bullying Campaigns. These meaningful sessions provided valuable insights into mental well-being, empathy, and mutual respect. The Secondary Ones learned how to seek help when needed, support their peers, and contribute to creating a safe and caring school environment.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the 2026 Orientation was the Cheer Competition on the final day. Orientation Groups came together with great enthusiasm, presenting creative and energetic cheers that echoed with unity, pride, and the Fairfield spirit.
The 2026 Orientation concluded with Installation Night, a significant milestone shared by both students and parents. The evening featured a dialogue session with Mr Wee, a captivating performance by the Fairfield Choir, and engagement sessions with Form Teachers and PiE (Partners-in-Education). The event culminated in prize presentations and the milestone badge-pinning ceremony, where parents symbolically welcomed their children into the Fairfield family. The night ended on a heartfelt note with the singing of the school song and hymn, leaving every Secondary One student with a deepened sense of belonging.
True to its theme, this odyssey marks only the beginning of a longer journey. As the Secondary One Fairsians embark on their secondary school years, they do so equipped with new friendships, shared memories, and the values that define the Fairfield family.
